Evaluation of anterior cruciate ligament repair using magnetic resonance imaging

چکیده
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to review the MR imaging findings after anterior cruicate ligament (ACL) reconstruction and to study the value of MRI in assessment of ACL reconstrction using arthroscopy as a gold standnad. Material and methods: Two radiologists reviewed MRI findings of 32 patients post ACL reconstrction retrospectively. Evaluation of MRI findings includes, primary & sceondary sings of graft failure and ACL graft reconstrcyin complications. Arthroscopy study was performed within 15–20 days from MR examination. Our results of MRI were comapred to the result of arthroscopy. The kappa values for interobserver variability were calculated. Results: A total of 32 male patients were studied, with a mean age of 27 years, Arthroscopy revealed 13 patients with full-thickness ACL graft tears, 8 partial-thickness ACL graft tears and 11 intact ACL grafts. Graft fiber continuty and 100% graft thickness were most valuableprimary sign in diagnosis of intact graft Complete discontinuous graft was valuable in diagnosis of full-thickness tear. Focal graft thinning was valuable in diagnosis of partial graft tear. Anterior tibial translation and uncovered posterior horn lateral meniscus are secondary sings that helped in differentiating partial or full thickness from intact graft. Conclusion: We conclude that MRI imaging is a reliable tool for the assessment of ACL reconstruction outcome.

Study of Coincidence of Hoffa’s Fat Pad Associated Injuries in Knee Traumas in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
Background and Objective: Hoffa’s fat pad injuries are often caused by acute direct and indirect trauma and chronic recurrent micro-trauma, and its disorders are associated with other traumas and injuries that have been less paid attention to in radiological studies. Therefore, this study was performed to evaluate the injuries associated with Hoffa’s fat pad injury in knee trauma using the diag...
متن کاملNew sonographically-guided test for anterior knee instability – preliminary report
AIM OF THE STUDY Ultrasound examination is widely used in orthopedic diagnostics, however sonographic evaluation of traumatic anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency is still inadequate. Aim of this study is to evaluate diagnostic capability of a new sonographically-guided test for diagnosing complete anterior cruciate ligament insufficiency. MATERIAL AND METHODS In 47 patients, with suspici...
متن کاملMagnetic resonance imaging of meniscal and cruciate injuries of the knee.
We investigated 133 knees with suspected meniscal or cruciate injuries by magnetic resonance imaging, and compared the findings with those at arthroscopy. MRI was found to be highly sensitive, specific and accurate in the evaluation of the menisci and the anterior cruciate ligament.

متن کاملAccuracy of MRI in Comparison with Arthroscopic Findings in the Diagnosis of Anterior Cruciate Ligament and Meniscus Tears
Background: Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is of great aid in the diagnosis of knee lesions. Nevertheless, arthroscopy has remained the reference standard for the diagnosis of internal derangements of the knee, against which alternative diagnostic modalities should be compared. This study was designed to assess the value of MRI and clinical examination in the diagnosis of Anterior Cruciate Li...
متن کاملDetached femoral bone plug following anterior cruciate ligament repair
We report the case of a 16-year-old woman who experienced failure of her bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) reconstruction of her left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) due to detachment of the femoral bone plug from the endobutton. We have only found one prior report of this unusual complication. This case is also notable in that evidence of this complication is visible radiographically. Most pos...
